Safety, Consent, and Community
Overview
Welcome to Twisted Realities! We believe that the best adventures are built on a foundation of trust, respect, and inclusivity. Our Code of Conduct exists to ensure that everyone; players, crew, organisers, and guests can enjoy their experience in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
Conduct rules define how we treat one another, while game rules shape how we play. Both are essential for a positive and memorable experience. If you ever feel unsafe or see behavior that doesn’t align with our values, please reach out to a Twisted Realities GMT member. All reports are taken seriously, handled confidentially, and will involve the appropriate parties to address concerns.
Twisted Realities is more than just a club; it’s a community where everyone should feel they belong. We strive to keep events affordable and accessible, ensuring that fun and enjoyment remain at the heart of what we do. Violations of the Code of Conduct may lead to consequences ranging from a warning or time-out to removal from membership, depending on the situation. Let’s all work together to make this space amazing for everyone!
When and Where Rules Apply
The Code of Conduct is in effect at all Twisted Realities events; whether in person or online and extends to all interactions related to the game. This includes main events, side quests, workshops, crew meetings, and all digital spaces such as social media, group chats, and forums.
No matter your role be it player, crew, spectator, or organizer; everyone shares responsibility for upholding our community standards. Let’s keep every interaction positive and inclusive, both on and off the field!
Equality and Diversity
Twisted Realities is open to all, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, neurotype, or background. Discrimination, hateful language, and exclusionary behavior are not tolerated.
We celebrate the differences that make our community vibrant and unique. Please bring your authentic self to every event and encourage others to do the same. The more perspectives and experiences we share, the richer our stories will be!
Disability Inclusion
We are committed to making Twisted Realities accessible to everyone, including those with visible and invisible disabilities. If you need accommodations be it for mobility, sensory, communication, or cognitive needs please let us know.
Your requests will be met with respect and confidentiality. Mobility aids, communication devices, sensory tools, and assistive technologies (like tablets for rules reference) are always welcome. We encourage everyone to support one another, ensuring that no one is left out of the adventure.
Gender Identity
Any and all Twisted Realities spaces are inclusive of every gender identity and expression. Always do your best to use the names and pronouns a person requests. If you’re unsure, ask respectfully and correct yourself if you make a mistake.
Transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, and all other identities are affirmed and valued. Intentional repeated misgendering, exclusion, or harassment are strictly prohibited. Our facilities are single-occupancy and open to all, supporting privacy and comfort for everyone.
Language Standards
Communication should always be friendly and welcoming. Avoid using language that could be considered offensive, derogatory, or disrespectful. When in doubt, choose words that build people up and foster a positive atmosphere. If someone asks you to change your language, take it as an opportunity to learn and grow.
Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment; verbal, physical, or nonverbal is never tolerated. This includes unwanted advances, inappropriate comments, touching, or any behavior that makes someone feel uncomfortable or threatened. Consent is crucial: if it’s withdrawn, stop immediately, no questions asked.
If you experience or witness sexual harassment, report it to a GMT or use our confidential reporting channels. We promise to act swiftly and appropriately to protect your safety and peace of mind.
Sexual Activity and Consent
All sexual activity real or role-played requires clear, enthusiastic, and ongoing consent from everyone involved. We follow the CRISP Model for consent: Considered: Everyone has time to think and decide freely. Reversible: Consent can be withdrawn at any time. Informed: All parties understand what’s involved. Specific: Consent is given for each activity, not as a blanket agreement. Participatory: Everyone is an active participant in giving and receiving consent. If anything feels uncomfortable, pause and check in with each other. Consent is not a one-time checkbox it’s a continuous conversation.
Relationships with Minors
The safety of minors is paramount. All interactions with minors must comply with our child protection policy, as well as UK Law and game rules. Grooming, inappropriate relationships, or any behavior that could put a minor at risk are strictly prohibited and will result in a ban and all information will be passed to the authorities.
If you ever have concerns about a minor’s safety, report it immediately your vigilance helps protect the community.
Bullying and Abuse of Power
Bullying, intimidation, and any misuse of authority are strictly forbidden. This applies to everyone, regardless of their position or experience. Treat every participant with kindness and respect, whether they’re a first-time player or a seasoned organiser. Crew and organisers dedicate their time to making events possible; show them your appreciation!
Roleplaying Romance and Conflict
Romantic storylines, rivalries, and dramatic conflicts can enrich the narrative when everyone consents. Before engaging in these themes, agree on boundaries and check in throughout play. If anyone wishes to pause or stop, respect their choice immediately.
Clear communication leads to better stories and happier participants!
Grappling, Physical Safety, and Consent
Any physical interaction such as grappling, staged combat, or mock restraints requires explicit agreement from all involved. If someone says “stop,” “no,” or uses a safe word, stop immediately. Physical safety always takes priority over gameplay. Never pressure or coerce anyone into physical activity they’re uncomfortable with.
Extremism and Intolerant Politics
Twisted Realities is a place for creativity, storytelling, and friendship not for extremist ideas or hate-based politics or making anyone feel uncomfortable. The display or promotion of symbols, language, or behaviors associated with intolerance, hate groups, or extremist ideologies is strictly prohibited. We don’t do politics here, whether it is Left, Right or from the moon. This is a fun space.
We take a middle ground approach and are committed to maintaining a supportive, positive environment for everyone.
Crew Conduct and Dispute Resolution
Crew members and organisers are volunteers dedicated to making your adventures memorable. Show them the same respect and kindness you expect in return. If a problem arises, approach crew or GMT calmly and politely. We’ll listen to your concerns and work together to resolve disputes quickly and fairly. Everyone ; crew and players alike deserves a safe and enjoyable experience.
Challenging Bad Behavior
We encourage every member of Twisted Realities to challenge harmful or inappropriate actions, whether you experience them directly or witness them. Address issues respectfully, and if you need support, report the behavior to the team. By looking out for one another, we build a safer, happier community for all.
Online Conduct
The same standards of respect, kindness, and inclusion apply to all online interactions, whether in our official forums, our group chats, or on our social media. Treat everyone as you would in person, and avoid flame wars, trolling, or sharing offensive content. If you notice issues online, reach out to Twisted Realities staff so we can address them and maintain a positive digital space.
Reporting Procedures
If you witness or experience any behavior that violates these guidelines, several reporting options are available: Speak with a Twisted Realities team member or GMT directly at an event. Contact us through our official channels (email, website contact form, or social media). All reports are managed with care. We may follow up with you for additional information, but your privacy will always be respected. Thank you for helping us keep Twisted Realities safe, fun, and inclusive for all members.
Final Note
Together, let’s create a community where everyone feels empowered to participate and shine. By honoring these principles, we ensure that Twisted Realities remains a place of respect, safety, and good vibes for all. Here’s to many unforgettable events and meaningful connections!
Accessibility: We strive to make the club welcoming for people of all physical, sensory, and neurodivergent backgrounds. While some limitations may exist, we are committed to working together to find solutions that allow everyone to participate fully whenever possible.
Respect Boundaries: Consent is an ongoing process, not a one-time agreement so follow CRISP. Check in regularly, especially during intense scenes or dramatic moments, and don’t hesitate to pause if anyone feels uncomfortable. Ensuring everyone’s comfort makes for better, more engaging adventures.
Debrief and Support: We conclude every Main Event with a debrief session, inviting you to share highlights, concerns, and feedback. This open forum ensures that all voices are heard and helps us continuously improve the experience. The GMT makes final decisions, but your input is always valued.
